When I was raising kids, I had a little paperback book titled What to Do When There’s Nothing to Do, published by the Boston Children’s Medical Center. It was full of simple crafts, games, and activities for filling up those moments (or hours!) when the kids just needed something to do, something different.
If you have a little one who needs something to do, bring them to storytime at the library. It’s a good way to spend an hour sharing stories, songs, and crafts. I like to do simple crafts that parents can replicate at home with the kinds of materials that can be found around the house. Most people have paper, crayons, glue, macaroni, string, cottonballs, paper bags, and paper plates around the house. Just add imagination!
Here’s today’s craft—cottonball sheep.
If you are a mom, a dad, a grandma, or a caregiver for a child between 2 and a half and 5 years old, and you have “nothing to do” on Wednesday morning, then come to the library at 11 a.m. for preschool storytime. There’s always something to do at storytime.
