Former president Barack Obama tweeted this quote by Nelson Mandela in reaction to the violence in Charlottesville:
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or religion.”
“People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught how to love.”
“For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
The library staff stand against racism and hate and are here to promote understanding and compassion in our community and believe that access to the Library’s collection and reading are one way to help people learn empathy and “be taught how to love”.
