Are you a young reader? or do you know a kid who loves to read? Then join the library Junior Book Club for some reading adventures.
The Junior Book Club, for children 9 to 13 years old, meets on the first Thursday of the month at 3:15 p.m. Every month we read a book, discuss it, and do a game or a craft based on the book. The kids pick out the books they want to read, and Nancy, the Youth Services librarian gets everyone a copy to take home.
Sound like fun? Here is a list of the upcoming titles:
October 6: The Twits, by Roald Dahl. A horribly mean and messy couple get their comeuppance.
November 3: Al Capone Does my Shirts, by Jennifer Chodolenko. Moose lives on Alcatraz Island where his dad is a prison guard. Moose looks after his autistic sister and wishes he could play more baseball. Meanwhile the warden’s daughter tells their classmates that she can get their clothes washed by the notorious gangster Al Capone.
December 1: The Backward Bird Dog, by Bill Wallace. Nothing is more important to J.C. than his nose. That’s the most important part of a bird dog. So what can he do when everyone attacks his nose?
Posted by Nancy, who is open to suggestions for a better name for the club.
