Happy 50th Anniversary to Where the Wild Things Are! The classic picture book by Maurice Sendak was published in Fall 1963 and won the Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished picture book by an American illustrator.
Fifty years, and it is still a must in every library. It is the perfect read-aloud.
I have read this book countless times to library groups and my own children. The adventures of Max in the land of the Wild Things are as fresh and exciting today as they were 50 years ago. The story and pictures never fail to capture the audience.
Maurice Sendak passed away last year at the age of 83, but his brilliant work lives on. So . . . Happy Birthday, Max and all the Wild Things!
