December 2011

Have you ever seen or read a of stream of consciousness piece. Stream of consciousness is

the continuous unedited chronological flow of conscious experience through the mind [according to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary].So today is Tuesday, my blog day. I wanted to write something cool and neat about Christmas, and how it is my favorite time of year. Then I stop because I wonder if I might step on some toes or hurt someone’s feelings. Not everyone is Christian and some Christians so not observe the Christmas Holiday. Then I decide it’s okay because it is from a personal point of view. So I guess I will tell you that my favorite annual reading of A Christmas Carol was just as poignant and moving as usual. I actually read this over the Thanksgiving day weekend, because there is nothing like kicking off the holidays with Ebenezer. Which made me think of the fact that anytime people are grumpy or stingy they are accused of being a “Scrooge”. Well that needs a qualifier because by the end Scrooge was a changed man. “It was always said of him that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge” So in that  regard it would make him the most philanthropic, giving person you could think of, which would put a whole new twist to the “Scrooge” handle.
Also I could honestly tear up at A Charlie Brown Christmas! When Charlie Brown wails “doesn’t anyone really know what Christmas is all about?” and Linus responds with~ “Sure Charlie Brown”  then says:
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
and that is what Christmas is all about”.-Linus Van Pelt by way of Luke by way of The Holy Bible.
