I’m sure everyone noticed that very beautiful full moon last nite , even though the full was on Jan.19, according to a moon watchers website. I’ve always been intrigued by the moon’s cycle, and of course at your local library there are many books on the moon and the universe and Astronomy. I knew someone many years ago who had a telescope and just loved looking at the star formation. They say that the best sky watching is done at a new moon, that is when the earth the sun and the moon are lined up and what we see is the moon shadow, to the human eye we see a blank sky, unless you use a telescope to see the surface of the moon.

We are very fortunate to have a local Observatory(KCCO Observatory) in Chico located at Horseshoe Lake in Upper Bidwell Park open 7:00-8:45 pm : Thurs.-Sunday. (530) 343-5635

This full moon will be waning down from Jan.26 till the New moon Feb.3

The schedule for the next full moon will be Feb.3: New Moon to Feb. 18 Full Moon and then waning down from Feb. 24 to March.

This gives a person plenty of time to study up at the Library until the next Moon adventure!
